The interdisciplinary research cooperation "UV-Team Austria" of the Medical University of Vienna, the AIT and the Veterinary University of Vienna received the Living Standards Award 2018 for the development and scientific work on standards for testing UV disinfection systems for drinking water.
Excerpt from the statement of the international jury: "The UV-Team Austria has developed methods with a high degree of scientific commitment and established and successfully implemented them with the help of standards in order to sustainably preserve and, where possible, improve the quality of drinking water".
The ÖNORM M 5873 "Plants for the disinfection of water by means of ultraviolet irradiation - requirements and testing" (Parts 1 and 2)" is the basis for the certification of UV systems, which ensure to provide sufficient disinfection efficacy.
