UV-Team Austria

As pioneers in UV disinfection of water we founded the first test facility for investigations on UV-Systems already in 1996 and have long-time experience in the research fields of UV inactivation, radiation physics, engineering and water hygiene. Since 2010 the UV-Team Austria is based at the Water Test Centre Wiental (WTWt). WTWt is a research cooperation between Medical University Vienna, University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna, Austrian Institute of Technology
and Vienna Water.

Mission

The mission of the WTWt is ­research and ­development on water treatment techniques based on physical ­processes. The main focus is disinfection of drinking ­water by means of UV ­radiation.

The UV-Team Austria collaborates with UV manufacturers from all over the world,  particularly from following countries: Austria, Denmark, France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland.

Competence and Qualifications

  • Our institutes are accredited as testing laboratories according to ISO 17025 (ÖNORM M 58731, ÖNORM M 5873-2 and W 294) and inspection bodies according to ISO 17020.
  • Acknowledged Testing Laboratory of the Austrian Association for Gas and Water (ÖVGW) and the German Technical and Scientific Association for Gas and Water (DVGW).
  • Performance testing of UV systems with different biodosimeters, like spores of Bacillus subtilis or various bacteriophages (e.g. MS 2 phage as applied in the UV Disinfection Guidance Manual (US EPA, 2006)
